The sea has always pulled at me. Growing up, I dreamed of joining the navy, drawn by the challenge, adventure, and the power of the ocean. Life took me on a different path, but that love for the water never faded.
In 2024 I found a new way to be part of the maritime world by joining the KNRM (Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution). Not as a crew member, but as a content creator—flying drones, filming exercises, and capturing the work of volunteer rescuers. It gave me the chance to combine two passions: storytelling and the sea.
In 2025 I took the plunge into boat ownership myself and bought Alegría, a 1970s Saga 27. She’s become my floating classroom, where I learn the ups and downs of maintenance, the joys of family trips, and the occasional chaos of docking.
In 2026 I converted my Saga 27 from diesel powered to electric. It was a journey! Removing the diesel, building a new dashboard, building the electrical infrastructure, putting the electric motor and batteries in: it was work! And I’m proud to say I did it myself. No professional installer, no shipyard to do the work for me. You too, can make your boat electric. It’s an amazing difference from diesel to electric and I can highly recommend it.
Through The Dutch Skipper, I share that journey openly: the struggles, the learning, and the simple joy of being on the water.
For me, this isn’t just about owning a boat—it’s about living closer to the element that has always fascinated me.
