The dashboard is finally in. In this video, I install the new dashboard I’ve been building for my Saga 27. After removing the old panel, cutting and sanding the new one, it’s time to mount everything and see how it all comes together. For the first time, the helm actually looks finished. Installing My New Boat Dashboard (Finally Taking Shape)
The real work begins. In this video, I start building my new boat dashboard — measuring, cutting holes, sanding edges, and slowly turning a blank HDPE panel into a proper helm for my Saga 27. This is the first hands-on episode of the dashboard rebuild series, where I’m modernizing the electrical system and layout step by step. No shortcuts, no prefab panels — just careful measuring, lots of test fitting, and hoping I don’t mess it up. Building My New Boat Dashboard (Cutting, Measuring, Sanding)
My Saga 27's electrical system is a mess. It's so bad that I want to remove the old and start fresh. In this video, I remove the old house battery, cut out the outdated dashboard, and walk through my plan for building a completely new helm for my Saga 27. Of course, in true boat fashion… taking things apart revealed a new issue with the septic tank fitting. One step forward, one step back. This is Part 2 of the dashboard overhaul series, where I’m modernizing my boat’s electrical system, wiring, and layout. Planning a Complete Dashboard & Electrical Overhaul on My Old Boat
So far I've done quite a bit of replacing old parts on my boat. I've replaced the starter battery, the 12V chargers and the fuel filters. Now it's time to actually add something new to the boat, to upgrade it. It may seem basic to you, but I'm adding a strainer filter. This strainer filter will help prevent the engine from ingesting any water plants, which could a be a costly and/or time-intensive repair.
